The KU 100 utilizes two omnidirectional condenser capsules mounted inside carefully modeled artificial ears. These "pinnae" replicate the complex reflections and resonances of the human outer ear, capturing the precise timing and intensity differences that our brains use to localize sound. Underneath its iconic exterior, the KU 100 features Neumann’s signature transformerless circuitry. It can handle high sound pressure levels of up to 135 dB (and up to 145 dB with the internal -10 dB pad engaged), making it as capable of recording a delicate whisper as it is a full orchestral crescendo.

Designed for both the studio and the field, the KU 100 offers three powering modes: standard 48V phantom power, internal batteries (6x AA), or an external power supply (included). It features a balanced 5-pin XLR output for professional studio integration and two unbalanced BNC outputs for measurement and analysis equipment.

Customizable Audio Control:

Hidden inside the base of the head are switches for a -10 dB pre-attenuation (pad) and a two-stage high-pass filter. The filter allows you to choose between a linear response, a 40 Hz cut, or a 150 Hz cut to eliminate low-end rumble or wind noise, ensuring that your immersive recordings remain pristine and focused.
