Bringing SPL’s Legendary Analog Sound to Multichannel Digital Workflows
The SPL Madison bridges the gap between high-channel-count digital efficiency and the musical warmth of high-end analog hardware. While digital multi-tracking offers unparalleled convenience, many converter systems suffer from sterile, closed-in sound due to cost-cut analog output stages. SPL changes the game by designing a high-density converter with a fully optimized, high-voltage analog audio section.
With 16 pristine analog input channels and 16 analog output channels utilizing industry-standard Tascam DB25 connectivity, the Madison integrates effortlessly into professional recording setups, scoring stages, live sound rings, and broadcast facilities. Supporting SmartMADI technology, it enables user-friendly serial configuration (daisy-chaining) without requiring an expensive external MADI router.
Pristine Conversion Enclosed in 36V Analog Audio Rails:
Excellent digital conversion is only as good as its surrounding analog circuitry. The Madison stands apart by using a custom-engineered analog audio section running on high-voltage 36V DC power rails. This immense internal voltage enables the unit to reach true professional output levels of up to +24 dBu. The result is an incredibly open, wide soundstage, punchy transient response, and a near-invisible noise floor that preserves the pure tone of your microphones and outboard processors.
SmartMADI & Latency-Neutral Chaining:
The Madison uses optical MADI (Type SC) digital connections, allowing rock-solid transmission over distances up to 2 kilometers (over a mile) with zero signal degradation. Thanks to its innovative digital bus design, up to four Madison units can be daisy-chained together on a single MADI port. This expands your rig to 64 inputs and 64 outputs with a digital I/O latency of just 1 sample, entirely eliminating the need for a dedicated digital matrix switcher. The sample rate is transmitted directly via the MADI stream, meaning chained units automatically match your project settings.
Flexible Studio Level Calibration & Metering:
To ensure seamless level matching with any hardware console or summing mixer, the front panel features four directly selectable studio reference levels: +15 dBu, +18 dBu, +22 dBu, and +24 dBu. Visual level monitoring is clear and fast, thanks to ergonomic, distance-readable multi-channel LED meter blocks that display inputs and outputs in clean groups of four.
16+16 HIGH-DENSITY CONVERSION: Packs 16 pristine analog-to-digital and 16 digital-to-analog converters into a sleek 1U rack space.
36V ANALOG AUDIO RAILS: Delivers SPL's signature analog warmth, massive dynamic headroom, and ultra-low noise performance.
UP TO +24 dBu CEILING: Reaches professional mastering-grade reference levels with excellent signal-to-noise clarity.
SMARTMADI DAISY-CHAINING: Connect up to 4 units in a serial line for a massive 64 x 64 I/O matrix without needing an external MADI router.
1-SAMPLE DIGITAL LATENCY: Ultra-compatible MADI optical setup ensures ultra-low, lightning-fast conversion tracking.
4 SELECTABLE REFERENCE LEVELS: Front-panel buttons easily toggle between +15, +18, +22, and +24 dBu to match any analog console setup.
SPL CLOCK-SHOP TECHNOLOGY: Employs a highly reliable, jitter-free internal clocking generator with Word Clock BNC I/O.
BALANCED TASCAM DB25 I/O: Uses four industrial-standard 8-channel DB25 connectors for secure, clutter-free back-rack cabling.
FANLESS, SILENT DESIGN: Designed as a completely fanless, low-power unit—perfect for placing right next to sensitive mics in quiet control rooms.
OPTIONAL REDUNDANT POWER: Features preparation for an optional second internal power supply for high-stakes live and broadcast setups.
