The Tegeler Audio VTRC addresses this issue directly by providing a complete, uncompromising all-tube signal path built from premium, hand-selected components.
The defining innovation of the VTRC is its dual-compressor architecture. Rather than forcing you to choose between smooth leveling or aggressive presence, the VTRC allows you to engage both its Vactrol-based Optical cell and its tube-driven Vari-µ gain reduction stages at the exact same time. Combined with highly flexible signal routing—allowing the passive EQ section to be placed before the compressor, after it, or directly into the side-chain path—the VTRC provides unparalleled tracking and sound-refining capabilities.

Variable-Character Tube Preamp (Clean to Fat):
The input stage of the VTRC relies on high-quality, transformer-balanced circuitry paired with an upgraded tube input configuration. The overall character is deeply musical, offering a unique Negative Feedback control that morphs the preamp's behavior on the fly. You can transition smoothly from a highly detailed, open, and transparent modern sound ("Clean") to a thick, rich, and creamy low-mid vintage bloom ("Fat"). It features a dedicated input transformer developed specifically for high-level line signals, ensuring that previously recorded tracks can be passed through the entire EQ and tube compression grid without overloading the front-end microphone stage.
Passive Pultec-Inspired Equalizer:
The equalization section is inspired by the iconic classic Pultec design parameters, utilizing an inductive LC network to alter frequencies transparently without phase harshness. It features a variable 3-band layout:
Low-Mid Boost: Offers 7 selectable corner frequencies between 80 Hz and 1000 Hz, adding immediate volume and weight to vocals or low-end instruments.
Mid Cut: Features 11 selective frequency intervals from 200 Hz up to 7 kHz to cleanly notch out muddy keynotes or boxy resonances.
High Boost: Includes an expansive range of high frequencies up to a 24 kHz air band, enabling you to inject silky-smooth, open, and expensive-sounding top-end sheen into any source.
The Dual-Engine Compressor Block:
The dynamics section gives you access to two completely different compressor topologies that can work independently or simultaneously in series:
Optical Compressor: Built around an internal LED beaming onto a light-sensitive resistor. Because of the natural "memory effect" of the optical resistor, the timing reacts smoothly to incoming levels, creating an open, transparent compression that holds the vocal nicely in place without flattening micro-dynamics.
Vari-Tube Compressor (Vari-µ): Directly controls the amplification of the tube stage using the sidechain signal from the optical block. It provides a dense, punchy, and highly assertive tone that forces vocals or instruments to sit perfectly forward in a busy mix without losing harmonic warmth.
