The KH 80 DSP is a masterpiece of precision engineering. Its design is based on computer simulations that calculate sound wave reflections with a level of accuracy unique to Neumann. The integrated Mathematically Modeled Dispersion™ (MMD™) Waveguide provides a solid base for precise sound direction, ensuring a wide horizontal sweet spot and narrow vertical dispersion to reduce reflections from mixing consoles. Every component and every curve of the polycarbonate composite housing is purposefully designed to reduce edge diffraction and ensure an exceptionally pure, neutral sound.

Whether you are in a brick building, a project studio, or an outside broadcast van, the room defines the sound. The KH 120 DSP includes "smart algorithms" to combat acoustic-physical "accidents." Using the rear 4-position Acoustical Control switch, you can quickly adjust for monitor positions (free-standing or small/medium/large desks). For professional standards, the KH 80 DSP is fully compatible with the Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment, which uses a measurement microphone to calibrate the stereo system specifically to your room's character.

Sophisticated Material Selection and Driver Tech:

The KH 80 DSP features an in-house modeled long-throw composite sandwich cone bass driver with Extremely Linear Force Factor™ (ELFF™). This allows for a linear pistonic output that eliminates harmonic distortion even during high sound peaks. The tweeter, featuring an alloy fabric dome, is modeled to minimize non-linear distortion, providing high-frequency reproduction that is both smooth and accurate.

Consistency and Reliability:

In the Neumann philosophy, "no form or component is there without reason." Every KH 80 DSP is computer-optimized and hand-aligned during final testing, meaning any KH 80 DSP is "pair-matched" to any other unit for perfect stereo imaging. To protect your investment, the monitor features extensive protection systems, including separate fast-acting thermo limiters for the woofer and tweeter, as well as soft clip and excursion limiters.

Networked Control and Modern Workflow:

The integrated network connector uses standard IP protocols, allowing you to align and control the loudspeaker system via your existing network infrastructure using the MA 1 software. It also supports Sennheiser Sound Control (SSC) for custom integration. For energy efficiency, the monitor includes a standby function that reduces power consumption when not in use.
