Product Overview

The 1959SLP is the definitive "Plexi"—the amplifier that powered the rock revolution of the late 60s and 70s. This 100W Super Lead powerhouse is a faithful reissue of the legendary head used by icons like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Angus Young. Designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Marshall’s UK factory, the 1959SLP is not just an amp; it is a piece of music history, famous for its raw power, organic touch-sensitivity, and harmonic richness.

Product Description

  • The Authentic Plexi Experience: The "Plexi" nickname comes from the gold acrylic (plexiglass) front panel used on the original 1960s units. This reissue captures that aesthetic perfectly, along with the non-master volume circuit that demands to be cranked to experience its legendary saturation.

  • Classic Four-Input Design: The 1959SLP features two distinct channels: Channel I (High Treble) for a bright, aggressive bite, and Channel II (Normal) for a warmer, bassier response. By using a patch cable to "jump" the inputs, players can blend both channels to dial in the perfect balance of thickness and cut.

  • 100 Watts of Raw Valve Power: Driven by four EL34 power valves and three ECC83 preamp valves, this head delivers a massive, stadium-filling sound. It is renowned for its incredible headroom and the way it cleans up beautifully just by rolling back your guitar's volume knob.

  • True Bypass FX Loop: While the original 60s amps were bare-bones, this reissue includes a series FX loop. Crucially, it features a true bypass switch, ensuring that when the loop is not in use, your signal remains 100% vintage and untouched by modern circuitry.

  • Legendary Construction: Built with a hand-welded chassis and premium components in Bletchley, England, the 1959SLP is built to withstand the rigors of the road while delivering the most honest valve tone imaginable.

Key Features

  • Non-Master Volume: The classic way to get "that" sound—drive the power valves hard for natural, rich distortion.

  • Handwired Heritage: Part of Marshall’s Vintage Series, maintaining the soul of the original 1967–1969 production models.

  • 3-Band EQ & Presence: Familiar controls that allow you to shape the high-end "sizzle" and low-end "thump" characteristic of classic rock.

  • UK-Built Quality: Every unit is a testament to British amplifier craftsmanship.

Tonal Characteristics

  • Clean: Wide-open, glassy, and incredibly loud. It provides a massive "bloom" that makes every note feel three-dimensional.

  • Crunch: When pushed, it enters the most famous "crunch" territory in history—thick, harmonic-laden, and extremely responsive to pick attack.
