Product Overview

The Answer to Modern 7.1 and 3D Production Demands

As studios transition to high-definition multi-channel and 3D audio, the KH 870 G stands as the ultimate analog bass management solution. Its bypassable 7.1 bass manager ensures full compatibility with all standard consumer formats, offering eight channels of balanced analog I/O for flexible interconnectivity. Whether you are extending the low-end of a stereo pair or managing a complex surround array, the KH 870 G delivers the power and precision required for critical tracking, mixing, and mastering.

Product Description

Dual-Driver Power and Lateral Consistency:

Equipped with two in-house modeled 10-inch long-throw drivers, the KH 870 G offers 6 dB more output than the KH 810, ensuring effortless reproduction even at high replay levels. By utilizing the Sum Output, engineers can implement Plane Wave Bass Array™ (PWBA™) techniques to acoustically improve lateral consistency across the listening area, reducing the negative impact of room modes in larger control rooms.

Advanced 7.1 High-Definition Bass Management:

The KH 870 G is more than just a speaker; it is a central system hub. It features a bypassable 4th-order 80 Hz active crossover that allows your main loudspeakers to play louder with significantly lower intermodulation distortion. The flexible LFE processing includes four distinct routing modes:

  1. LFE to Subwoofer and Left/Right

  2. LFE to Subwoofer only (up to 80 Hz)

  3. LFE to Subwoofer only (up to 120 Hz)

  4. LFE to Subwoofer with no filtering (for daisy-chaining and external processing).

Precision Engineering and Installation Flexibility:

The rock-solid wooden cabinet features Low Resonance Integral Molding™ (LRIM™) materials and large, flow-optimized front ports. This design ensures a tight, articulate bass response with minimal port noise and compression. The front-firing ports allow the unit to be placed against a wall or even flush-mounted into a wall without loss of performance. For advanced setups, the electronics can be remote-located using the REK 3 kit to simplify cabling and heat management.

Total System Control:

The KH 870 G includes an 8-channel system volume control and can be operated via the NRC 1 hardware remote or RS-232 commands. This allows for centralized control of the entire monitoring system independent of the source. Extensive acoustical controls—including a bypassable parametric EQ, low-cut filter, and 45° step phase control—provide the tools necessary to tailor the subwoofer to any acoustic environment.
