Product Overview
The KH 120 II W (509124) takes the blueprint of the original KH 120—a monitor world-renowned for its honesty—and enhances every performance metric. It features a new 5.25" high-precision woofer and a 1" alloy fabric dome tweeter housed in a Mathematically Modeled Dispersion™ (MMD) waveguide. The standout addition is the internal DSP engine, which allows the monitor to be perfectly calibrated to your room's unique acoustics using the Neumann MA 1 alignment system. This ensures a phase-linear response and a rock-solid stereo image that simply wasn't possible in previous analog generations.
Product Description
A New Benchmark for Linear Response:
The KH 120 II W is engineered for absolute truth in monitoring. It boasts an incredibly flat frequency response from 44 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB), ensuring that your EQ and compression decisions translate perfectly to any playback system. By utilizing DSP-controlled crossovers, Neumann has eliminated the phase distortion common in traditional analog filters, resulting in a level of clarity and transient detail usually reserved for much larger flagship monitors.
DSP-Powered Room Correction:
Every room has acoustic flaws that "color" what you hear. The KH 120 II W features an internal DSP processor that works seamlessly with the Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment. By measuring your room with the MA 1 microphone, the monitor's internal filters are automatically adjusted to compensate for room modes and reflections. This gives you a "calibrated" listening environment where the low-end is tight and the midrange is perfectly transparent.
Redesigned Class-D Amplification:
The move to high-efficiency Class-D amplifiers (145W for the woofer / 100W for the tweeter) allows the KH 120 II W to deliver higher sound pressure levels (116.8 dB) while consuming significantly less power. These amps provide the necessary headroom to handle complex transients without clipping or heat buildup. Additionally, the "Auto Standby" feature reduces power consumption to 0.3W when the monitor is not in use, meeting the latest environmental standards.
Elegant White Aesthetic and Versatile Placement:
The "W" version is finished in a high-quality white coating, making it a perfect fit for bright, modern studios, galleries, or home environments where the gear needs to complement the decor. Its compact composite cabinet is extremely rigid, reducing internal standing waves. With a wide variety of mounting options available, it is equally at home on a desk, a wall, or in a multi-channel Dolby Atmos® ceiling grid.
