Neumann’s Automatic Monitor Alignment MA 1 is an integrated solution specifically designed to extract the maximum performance from Neumann studio monitors. Unlike conventional correction software, MA 1 stores and processes alignment data directly within the DSP-powered loudspeakers—no plug-ins or special audio drivers are required during playback. The results are a more accurate depiction of acoustic spaces, increased clarity, dry bass, and total consistency across your monitoring system.

Reliable Monitoring Anywhere:

The MA 1 is a dedicated tool for aligning network-enabled KH Line monitors in stereo systems, including those with Bass Management. A major advantage of this system is that non-network-enabled (analog) KH monitors can also be aligned when connected via a network-enabled subwoofer like the KH 750 DSP. For these analog monitors, the MA 1 provides phase linearization of their built-in crossover filters, resulting in superior tonality, impulse reproduction, and pinpoint stereo localization.

How It Works:

The alignment process is intuitive and requires no specialized acoustics knowledge:

1. Guided Measurement: Connect your monitors to your interface and the individually calibrated MA 1 microphone to the input (48V phantom power required).

2. Connectivity: Connect your loudspeakers to your computer via a standard Ethernet switch supporting IPv6.

3. Acoustic Analysis: The software ascertains the room’s properties and calculates a room-specific target curve based on decades of Neumann’s engineering experience.

4. Customization & Storage: You can modify the target curve to your preference before storing the parameters directly into the hardware. Once saved, the Ethernet connection can be removed for standard operation.

Unified Playback System:

When using Bass Management, the alignment algorithm ensures optimal summation between subwoofers and satellites. This prevents the subwoofer from being perceived as a separate sound source, creating a phase-correct, unified playback system. For those looking to expand, a Multichannel Extension is available as a paid extra license for surround and immersive setups.

Important Information

• Software Access: Download the MA 1 software via your Neumann Product Registration account under "Software Download."

• System Conflicts: MA 1 alignment will overwrite data from the Neumann.Control iPad® app.

• Microphone Linearization: To use the MA 1 microphone with 3rd party measurement software, calculate your individual correction curve at ma1.neumann.com.
