Integrating a subwoofer into a high-end analog system has traditionally been a challenge. Most modern crossover solutions rely heavily on DSP, which forces a pristine analog signal to be converted to digital and back again, sacrificing fine harmonic detail and spatial imaging along the way.
The SPL Crossover Mk2 solves this problem permanently with its uncompromised active analog architecture. By cleanly splitting your frequency spectrum into independent LOW PASS (for your subwoofers) and HIGHPASS (for your main/top monitors) pathways, it routes the traffic exactly where it needs to go while remaining entirely transparent to the ear. This second-generation model expands upon the original design with 18 selectable crossover points, independent slope alignment, and an extended range of phase correction features to make system alignment effortless.
120V VOLTAiR High-Voltage Headroom
Like all flagship components in SPL's Professional Fidelity series, the Crossover Mk2 relies on our world-renowned VOLTAiR technology. Running on a massive internal plus/minus 60V DC power rail system, it provides four times the operating voltage of standard audio equipment. This unparalleled foundation allows the unit to easily process high-output levels up to +32.5 dBu without breaking a sweat. By keeping all components well within their optimal linear operating zones, compression and transient squashing are eliminated, resulting in a completely relaxed, highly detailed, and spacious acoustic environment.
Advanced X-FREQ Matrix & Slope Optimization
The Mk2 evolution heavily upgrades your frequency tailoring capabilities. The user-friendly front panel divides the active bands into two fully independent control fields:
3-Band Range Shifting: The dedicated X-FREQ switch defines the target boundaries in three selectable stages: Low (50 Hz to 120 Hz), Mid (300 Hz to 720 Hz), or High (1.5 kHz to 3.6 kHz).
18 Stepped Crossover Points: Within those ranges, a 6-position X-OVER rotary selector locks into precise, hardware-stepped frequency points—allowing you to fine-tune speaker handoffs with surgical accuracy.
Selectable Roll-Off Slopes: Shape your crossovers aggressively or naturally. The ROLL-OFF toggle switches the filter attenuation slope between 12 dB and 24 dB per octave on the fly.
Total Phase Alignment & Level Control
To get the subwoofers and main monitors perfectly unified in time, the Crossover Mk2 features an advanced, variable phase correction matrix. A 3-position toggle switch allows you to engage variable phase shifts between 0° to 180° or 0° to -180°, unlocking a full 360-degree control arc via the continuous phase potentiometer. When phase alignment is complete, the circuit can be fully bypassed to preserve absolute signal path brevity. Additionally, a dedicated BASS LEVEL knob provides continuous subwoofer gain offsets from -10 dB to +10 dB to balance out thin vintage masterings or accommodate room acoustic demands.
Seamless Smart Connectivity
Equipped with gold-plated stereo XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connection blocks, the Crossover Mk2 hooks seamlessly into any high-end ecosystem. A front-panel INPUT selector toggles between your active source devices. The outputs operate in parallel, meaning both the XLR and RCA nodes pass signal simultaneously. It accommodates both Mono and Stereo subwoofer installations via a dedicated toggle, and features a HIGHPASS BYPASS command to instantly run your main monitors full-range whenever needed.
