The Ultimate Analog Bridge for High-Density Digital Mixes
The SPL MixDream addresses the core limitation of digital audio mixing—the digital summing bus. While mixing "in the box" (ITB) offers unmatched recall and flexibility, summing complex multi-track sessions digitally can result in a flat, narrow, and crowded soundstage where individual instruments fight for acoustic space.
The MixDream solves this by routing up to 16 separate audio tracks or sub-groups out of your high-end D/A converters and summing them entirely in the analog domain. Utilizing a premium, custom-engineered discrete Class-A design, the MixDream handles high signal levels effortlessly. It delivers an open, three-dimensional soundstage with rich harmonic depth and a solid center image, giving your digital mixes the punch and authority of a classic analog desk.
Pure Discrete Class-A Summing Architecture:
The internal engineering of the MixDream utilizes a strictly discrete Class-A transistor design running on an optimized power grid. By avoiding mass-produced integrated circuits (ICs) in the primary summing path, it achieves an ultra-low noise floor, exceptional channel separation ($90\text{ dB}$), and massive dynamic headroom. The Class-A stages keep the output transistors constantly conductive, eliminating crossover distortion. This enables the mixer to capture fast transient peaks and sub-bass frequencies with perfect linear accuracy.
Factory-Integrated Lundahl Output Transformers:
The master stereo output stage features premium, custom-wound Lundahl transformers. This "big iron" output circuit can be switched in or out of the signal path via a front-panel button. Engaging the transformers adds a classic, organic analog weight to the entire mix. It subtly rounds off harsh digital highs, fills out the midrange body, and tightens up low-end punch through gentle transformer saturation. This provides the cohesive "glue" that makes a mix sound like a finished record.
16 Fully Balanced Hardware Insert Points:
Unlike simple passive summing boxes, the MixDream doubles as a powerful hardware routing matrix. Each of the 16 input channels features a dedicated, balanced hardware insert loop (Send and Return via rear DB25 connectors). This allows you to patch in boutique hardware compressors, EQs, or saturators across individual tracks or stereo stems before they hit the summing bus. Each insert can be engaged or completely bypassed via independent front-panel toggle switches, keeping your signal path pristine when external gear isn't in use.
Onboard Dynamic Limiting and Stereo Expansion:
Master Peak Limiter: A built-in hardware analog limiter protects your downstream A/D converters from clipping. Controlled via a single pot, it uses a transparent, musical curve to catch sudden peaks, letting you drive the summing mixer harder for a louder, punchier print.
Stereo Expander: An integrated analog spatializer targets the difference signal to expand the lateral stereo width. It adds depth and dimension to your mix while maintaining a solid center image and full mono compatibility.
16-CHANNEL CLASS-A SUMMING: Sums 16 channels of balanced analog audio utilizing a high-voltage, discrete Class-A signal path for console-grade depth.
SWITCHABLE LUNDAHL TRANSFORMERS: Premium Lundahl transformers on the master outputs inject classic analog warmth, low-end punch, and cohesive harmonic glue.
16 INDEPENDENT HARDWARE INSERTS: Rear-panel DB25 inserts let you patch outboard hardware processors into individual channels with front-panel bypass switches.
INTEGRATED ANALOG PEAK LIMITER: High-efficiency analog limiter guards your recording converters against digital clipping while increasing perceived loudness.
ACTIVE STEREO IMAGING EXPANDER: Adjusts the stereo field safely to add impressive width and open up space without phase cancellation.
PARALLEL MIX SUMMING OUTPUTS: Features an independent master mix output alongside a separate unity-gain monitor output to feed backup recorders simultaneously.
CHANNELS 1/2 & 3/4 MONO SWITCHES: Front-panel mono toggles optimize channels 1/2 and 3/4 for center-isolated signals like kick drums, snares, and lead vocals.
PREMIUM GERMAN BUILD QUALITY: Hand-assembled in Germany featuring a 4mm thick anodized aluminum faceplate, solid aluminum knobs, and gold-plated Neutrik XLR I/O.
