The Purist's Pathway to Console-Grade Analog Summing
The SPL MixDream XP addresses the core need of modern project studios and hybrid tracking houses: achieving the wide, deep, and cohesive soundstage of a large-format analog mixing desk without the physical space, maintenance costs, or routing complexity of a massive console.
While mixing completely "in the box" (ITB) offers unmatched recall efficiency, digital summing buses can flatten complex transients and choke down lateral stereo width as track counts rise. The MixDream XP solves this by summing up to 16 individual tracks or stereo stems in the pure analog domain. Utilizing proprietary discrete Class-A solid-state design, it expanding your mix's boundaries, adding physical weight to the center image and pristine separation between competing instruments.
Pure Discrete Class-A Topology (Zero Integrated Circuits):
The audio path of the MixDream XP is strictly discrete and IC-free, utilizing individual transistors to handle signal gain instead of mass-produced operational amplifier chips. Operating on optimized internal high-voltage $\pm$18V DC rails, the Class-A transistors remain constantly conductive. This configuration eliminates crossover distortion entirely while providing a massive 28 dBu output ceiling. This enables the summing mixer to capture fast transient velocities and heavy sub-bass fundamentals with zero dynamic compression or clipping artifacts.
Proprietary 60-Ohm Pure Path Summing Matrix:
The core summing architecture relies on a specialized low-impedance 60-$\Omega$ passive-active matrix. By summing signals at a low impedance level, the MixDream XP exhibits an exceptionally quiet residual noise floor ($-97.3\text{ dBu}$), while maximizing crosstalk rejection between adjacent left and right channels ($91\text{ dB}$). This prevents signals from blending together muddying up your mix, preserving the distinct left, right, and center panning placements you set in your DAW.
Streamlined, High-Performance Control Set:
Designed as a dedicated, pure summing engine, the front panel is refined for absolute signal transparency and ease of use:
Mono Toggle Switches (Channels 1/2 & 3/4): Converts these specific channel pairs from stereo tracking to independent dual-mono paths. This optimizes the mixer for center-isolated, high-energy signals like kick drums, bass guitars, snares, and lead vocals.
Master Output Level Gain Pot: A smooth-milled analog rotary control that adjusts the global stereo summing output from -6 dB up to +10 dB, letting you drive the output stage perfectly into your master A/D converter.
16-CHANNEL CLASS-A SUMMING: Sums 16 individual analog channels or 8 stereo sub-groups utilizing high-voltage discrete Class-A transistor networks.
LOW-IMPEDANCE DESIGN: Uses a proprietary 60-$\Omega$ summing matrix to achieve exceptional channel separation and near-zero self-noise.
MASSIVE 28 dBu HEADROOM: High-headroom power rails easily handle hot signals from pro-tier multichannel DAC converters without dynamic choking.
DEDICATED MONO LOGIC TOGGLES: Front-panel mono switches isolate channels 1/2 and 3/4 for center-panned elements like kick, bass, and vocals.
EXPANSION ENGINES LINK TERMINAL: Rear-panel Expansion Input jacks allow multiple MixDream XP units to be daisy-chained together via DB25 to expand channel capacity.
BALANCED TASCAM PINOUT DB25s: All 16 analog inputs are routed through professional, gold-plated DB25 multi-pin connectors to keep rack cabling clean.
PARALLEL MIX & MONITOR OUTPUTS: Features mirrored stereo outputs across balanced XLR ports, letting you feed a master print deck and monitor controller simultaneously.
1U GERMAN MASTERING BUILD: Hand-assembled in Germany featuring a 4mm thick black-anodized aluminum faceplate, solid aluminum knobs, and a rugged steel casing.
