Vintage Program Equalization with Uncompromised Modern Precision
While digital plug-ins can alter frequencies surgically, they often strip away the natural dimension, stereo width, and rich harmonic presence of a tracking console or high-end bus. The Tegeler Audio Classic Equalizer EQP-1 restores that analog magic, serving as the ultimate sonic refiner for individual tracks, stem sub-mixes, and complete mastering matrices.
By handling audio through an exclusively passive filter framework, the EQP-1 introduces phase-coherent frequency sculpting that sounds natural even at extreme settings. Voices take on a silky, open presence, instruments find their definitive space across the stereo field without harsh volume adjustment, and low-frequency tracking layers gain intense clarity and punch.
The Magic of Passive LC Circuitry & Hand-Selected Tube Gain:
At the center of the EQP-1 is a passive equalization network built around premium capacitors and custom inductors. Because passive circuits natively attenuate signals to shape curves, Tegeler recovers the gain using an elite all-tube makeup stage driven by high-grade dual-triode valves (such as ECC83 and ECC82) working alongside custom-wound audio transformers.
This combination injects pleasing harmonic saturation and density directly into your path. In fact, the low end becomes instantly more defined and the high frequencies grow pleasantly rounded the moment you pass audio through the active hardware, even with the EQ bands completely disengaged.
The Legendary "Pultec Trick" Low-Shelf Control:
The low-frequency section operates on a dual-shelving interface covering four critical frequency nodes: 20 Hz, 30 Hz, 60 Hz, and 100 Hz. Equipped with completely independent Boost and Cut controls, users can unlock the foundational Pultec curve. By boosting a bass shelf while simultaneously cutting it at the same frequency, the interaction between the distinct boost and cut curves creates a subtle dip right above the selected frequency. This isolates your kick drums and bass guitars with immense punch and authority while scooping away boxy low-mid buildup.
Indescribable Highs & Flexible Peak Shaping:
For high-end refinement, the EQP-1 divides its parameters into an active Treble Boost and a High-Frequency Cut:
Treble Peak Boost: Spans 9 selectable frequency centers from 3 kHz all the way up to a brilliant 20 kHz air band, complete with a continuous Bandwidth (Q) control. This lets you scale everything from sharp, targeted mid-range bite to wide, open, and shimmering high-end gloss.
High-Shelf Attenuation: Offers high-frequency shelving cuts at 5 kHz, 10 kHz, and 20 kHz. This is the ultimate tool for taming modern digital harshness, smoothing out overhead sibilance, and rounding off aggressive transients into a warm, classic tape-like response.
PASSIVE LC FILTER ENGINE: Modeled after vintage Pultec EQP-1A circuitry using high-quality capacitors and inductors for phase-coherent musicality.
CLASS-A TUBE MAKEUP STAGE: Utilizes premium dual-triode tubes to add classic analog color, harmonic density, and organic depth.
CUSTOM-WOUND TRANSFORMERS: Balanced input and output transformers preserve signal integrity while introducing hardware weight.
SIMULTANEOUS BASS BOOST & CUT: Unlocks the legendary low-end "Pultec trick" to generate massive low-frequency authority without mud.
EXPANSIVE HIGH-FREQUENCY SCULPTING: Peak high boosting ranges up to 20 kHz, delivering open, silky, and indescribable top-end air.
VARIABLE BANDWIDTH ATTENUATOR: Adjust the Treble Boost curve smoothly from a narrow, surgical Q to a broad, natural shelf.
DUAL-CHANNEL / STEREO OPERATION: Perfectly configured for stereo mix-bus processing, tracking stems, or critical mastering sessions.
TRUE HARDWIRE BYPASS TOGGLE: Completely removes internal active circuitry for immediate, uncolored A/B monitoring comparisons.
HIGH-HEADROOM RATED DESIGN: Seamlessly accepts professional line levels up to +24 dBu without experiencing premature input distortion.
HANDMADE IN GERMANY: Painstakingly hand-built and calibrated using premium boutique components for flawless performance life.
