The Sonic Glory of an Analog Console with Complete DAW Convenience
While working entirely inside a digital audio workstation (DAW) offers the ultimate convenience of total recall, calculating complex signal summation digitally often results in a narrow stereo field, loss of depth, and a clinical, flat soundstage.
The Tegeler Audio Tube Summing Mixer gives you the best of both worlds. By routing your main instrument stems, sub-mixes, or individual tracks out of your interface and into the TSM’s physical analog mix bus, the signals are blended naturally without software computation algorithms. Active dual-triode tube grids and large transformers process the final summation, adding low-mid weight, smoothing out harsh digital transients, and adding subtle harmonic density. Your digital workflow remains fully intact, while your final bounce inherits the unmistakable character of an analog record.
40 Inputs for Demanding Hybrid Workflows:
With a total capability of 2 x 20 simultaneous input paths, the TSM possesses the muscle to handle highly complex and layered mixing sessions. The primary routing utilizes 4 high-density Sub-D (DB25) connectors wired to the standard Tascam layout, clean-feeding 32 balanced channels into the summation core. Tegeler also integrates 4 stereo pairs (8 channels total) of balanced Neutrik TRS inputs directly onto the rear chassis. This hybrid input deck gives you immediate flexibility to combine direct DB25 breakout lines from your converter alongside external analog gear return lines.
Smart Mono Phantom Center Normalization:
Mixing hardware usually treats physical input connections strictly as discrete left or right channels. Tegeler elegantly simplifies mono track summation through a smart normaleling architecture: on the balanced TRS blocks, if a patch cable is connected exclusively to the lower jack of a channel pair, the TSM's circuit recognizes the signal as mono and automatically distributes it to both the left and right buses simultaneously. This pins vocals, bass guitars, or kick drums perfectly to the dead-center phantom image of your mix without wasting an extra output channel on your converter grid.
Stepped Master Output Attenuation for Perfect Recall:
To protect the reproducibility of your mixes, the TSM completely avoids standard, variable volume potentiometers. Instead, the front panel features a heavy-duty, stepped rotary output switch that adjusts volume in highly precise 3 dB increments. This design lets you drive your input channels hot into the internal tube matrix to achieve rich, saturated analog tones, and then safely step down the master output level to prevent overloading the inputs of your returning A/D converter—allowing you to recall your exact hardware settings instantly weeks later.
Modular Cascading & Surround Capability:
For large tracking spaces or setups requiring immense track separation, the TSM features a scalable, cascadable design. Multiple Tube Summing Mixers can be easily chained together to scale up your analog input count to 80 channels or more. This linking flexibility also makes the TSM an ideal foundation for building high-end, immersive multi-channel or analog surround mixing rigs.
40 TRANSLUCENT ANALOG INPUT NODES: Features 2 x 20 channel combinations to smoothly blend complex multi-track stems and sub-groups.
ACTIVE CLASS-A TUBE STAGES: Employs premium dual-triode valves to introduce classic harmonic color, midrange depth, and rich analog warmth.
TRANSFORMER-BALANCED SUMMING BUS: High-headroom mix bus (up to +22 dBu) delivers low distortion and excellent musical cohesion.
STEPPED -3 dB MASTER GAIN ATTENUATOR: Replaces continuous pots with a stepped selector to guarantee quick, identical mix recalls.
HYBRID DB25 & TRS LAYOUT: Combines 4 Tascam-standard DB25 banks with 8 independent Neutrik TRS stereo jacks for versatile connectivity.
SMART PHANTOM CENTER PANNING: Auto-senses single TRS patch connections to position mono elements perfectly in the center of the stereo field.
CASCADABLE EXPANSION ARCHITECTURE: Allows multiple units to be daisy-chained together to accommodate high-channel count or multi-channel surround workflows.
TWIN ILLUMINATED VU METERS: Large analog VU needles monitor master bus output behavior with classic visual style.
LOW PHASE-DISTORTION AUDIO PATH: Maintains a flat, expansive response from 20 Hz to 40 kHz for deep bass and transparent highs.
SHIELDED TOROIDAL LINEAR PSU: High-quality, low-noise internal linear power section prevents electrical hum and interference from entering the mix bus.
