Because of its exceptionally uniform cardioid pattern, it offers a very linear response both on- and off-axis. This means that sounds coming from the side are captured without the "smearing" or tonal coloration common in lesser microphones, making it very forgiving and easy to place in any room.

The "Sonic Mirror" Capsule:

At the heart of the TLM 193 is the K 89 dual-membrane capsule.
