Product Overview

The TLM 193 (008381) is a streamlined, cardioid-only version of the legendary TLM 170 R. It utilizes the same high-end K 89 capsule—a modern, edge-terminated design that combines the fast transient response of a small diaphragm with the smooth, rich sensitivity of a large diaphragm. As a part of the Transformerless (TLM) series, it boasts a massive 130 dB dynamic range and an extremely low self-noise of just 10 dB-A, ensuring that your recordings remain pristine whether you are capturing a quiet whisper or a loud guitar cabinet.

Product Description

Simply Beautiful & Beautifully Simple:

The TLM 193 is designed for efficiency. It features a switchless design, meaning there are no pads or filters to adjust—it is engineered to handle almost any source naturally. Because of its exceptionally uniform cardioid pattern, it offers a very linear response both on- and off-axis. This means that sounds coming from the side are captured without the "smearing" or tonal coloration common in lesser microphones, making it very forgiving and easy to place in any room.

The "Sonic Mirror" Capsule:

At the heart of the TLM 193 is the K 89 dual-membrane capsule. Unlike microphones that "hype" certain frequencies to create a fake sense of detail, the TLM 193 is a reference-class tool that provides a truthful sound image. Its frequency response is flat and parallel up to 10 kHz within a pickup angle of ±100°. This linearity ensures that the room's natural reverberation and ambience are captured faithfully, maintaining the original tonal quality of the performance.

High Performance, No Noise:

The letters "TLM" stand for Transformerless Microphone. In this design, the traditional output transformer is replaced by an electronic circuit that prevents RF interference and ensures high common-mode rejection. The result is a whisper-quiet noise floor of 10 dB-A—lower than the ambient noise of most high-end studios. Despite its sensitivity, it can handle massive sound pressure levels up to 140 dB without distortion, making it a universal tool for everything from delicate vocals to aggressive brass.

Visually Unobtrusive & Built to Last:

With its slightly smaller footprint and non-reflective matte black finish, the TLM 193 is visually discreet, making it excellent for filmed sessions or broadcast environments. The capsule is elastically mounted to protect against structure-borne noise and vibrations. Every unit comes in a protective, foam-lined Wooden Case and includes the SG 2 Swivel Mount, ensuring it is ready for professional use right out of the box.
