Product Overview
The TLM 107 Studio Set (008673) is the ultimate "workhorse" for project and professional studios alike. Unlike traditional microphones that favor a "vintage" warmth, the TLM 107 is engineered for breathtaking realism and sonic neutrality. It features five selectable polar patterns and a transformerless (TLM) circuit that captures everything from a whisper to thundering percussion with a massive 131 dB dynamic range. By bundling the microphone with the dedicated EA 4 shock mount, this set ensures your signal remains pristine and free from mechanical vibrations.
Product Description
The Modern Studio Workhorse:
The TLM 107 is designed for those who prefer an uncolored, true-to-the-source sound. Its newly developed dual-diaphragm capsule is inspired by Neumann’s top-of-the-line D-01 digital microphone, offering an incredibly balanced frequency response across all patterns. Whether you are using Omni, Wide Cardioid, Cardioid, Hypercardioid, or Figure-8, the overall sound balance remains consistent, allowing you to change patterns to suit the room without needing to re-EQ your source.
Innovative Navigation Concept:
Setting a new standard for user interface, the TLM 107 features a stylish navigation toggle on the rear of the microphone. This joystick-style control allows you to manage the polar pattern, two stages of pre-attenuation (0, -6, -12 dB), and two low-cut filters (Linear, 40 Hz, 100 Hz) from a single point. Clear LED indicators display your current settings and are programmed to dim automatically after ten seconds so as not to distract the performer during a take.
Precision Engineering & Transient Response:
The sound of the TLM 107 remains remarkably linear up to 8 kHz, followed by a slight, elegant lift in the highest frequencies to add "freshness" and "air" to vocals. Particular attention has been paid to the natural reproduction of speech sounds, specifically the critical “s” sound, to prevent sibilance. Because the capsule is edge-terminated and the grille is acoustically optimized, the microphone is significantly less sensitive to humidity, dust, and pop sounds.
Versatility for High-Pressure Recording:
Despite its refined sound, the TLM 107 is exceptionally robust. With its pre-attenuation pads engaged, it can handle sound pressure levels up to 153 dB SPL. This makes it equally suitable for delicate classical ensembles and aggressive sound sources like loud guitar amplifiers or drums. Its ultra-low self-noise of just 10 dB-A is virtually inaudible, ensuring that your recordings remain clean even in the quietest studio environments.
