Product Overview
The TLM 107 (008666) is a true 21st-century workhorse. Unlike many microphones that aim for a "vintage" color, the TLM 107 is designed for sonic realism. It features a newly developed sound transducer that captures instruments and voices without any added coloration, providing an authentic and detailed signal that is perfect for modern post-production. Its Transformerless (TLM) technology ensures a clean signal path with a massive dynamic range of 131 dB and an incredibly low noise floor of just 10 dB-A.
Product Description
A New Standard in Versatility:
The TLM 107 is defined by its flexibility. It offers five polar patterns: Omnidirectional, Wide Cardioid, Cardioid, Hypercardioid, and Figure-8. This makes it a "Swiss Army knife" in the studio—equally capable of capturing the intimate detail of a solo vocalist, the natural bloom of a grand piano, or the complex room ambience of an orchestral recording.
Revolutionary Navigation Switch:
Setting this microphone apart is its intuitive joystick navigation switch on the rear. This single, elegant control allows the engineer to toggle through polar patterns, two low-cut filters (Linear, 40 Hz, or 100 Hz), and two pad settings (0 dB, -6 dB, or -12 dB). The settings are clearly indicated by discreet LED displays in the chrome ring, which automatically dim after ten seconds to avoid distracting the performer.
Unmatched Clarity and Detail:
The sound of the TLM 107 is exceptionally balanced. It provides a linear reproduction up to 8 kHz, with a slight, elegant lift in the higher frequencies to add "air" and presence without ever sounding harsh. Because the capsule is designed to be acoustically open, it resists the "proximity effect" and plosives better than many other large diaphragm microphones, resulting in a natural, open sound even during close-miking.
Engineered for High-Pressure Environments:
Despite its finesse, the TLM 107 is incredibly robust. It can handle sound pressure levels up to 141 dB (and up to 153 dB with the -12 dB pad engaged). This means you can safely place it in front of a roaring guitar stack or a loud percussion ensemble without worrying about distortion. The Nickel finish provides the timeless, prestigious aesthetic that has been a staple in world-class studios for decades.
