The core innovation of the 4-710d is its phase-aligned dual-path blending circuit on each of the four microphone preamps. Turning the central Tone knob completely counter-clockwise engages a 100% discrete Class-A solid-state transimpedance stage, which delivers ultra-clean transient response, transparent high-end detail, and tight low-end snap. Turning the knob completely clockwise paths the signal through a 100% high-voltage transimpedance vacuum tube circuit driven by a 12AX7 tube, introducing rich second-order harmonic saturation, velvety mids, and classic vintage compression. Setting the knob anywhere in between lets you dials in the perfect hybrid tone—giving you the punch of solid-state with the smooth body of a tube.
