When the microphone is placed further back in a "diffuse field" (where reflected sound dominates), this boost compensates perfectly, resulting in a flat, natural, and incredibly transparent frequency response.

Limitless Bass Performance:

Operating as a true pressure transducer, the KM 183 mt is immune to the "proximity effect"—the bass remains consistent regardless of the distance to the source. Its low-frequency response is virtually limitless, accurately capturing the deepest notes of a pipe organ or the low-end resonance of a grand piano down to 20 Hz.
