The KM 183 A nx is built for flexibility. The system consists of the passive KK 183 nx capsule head and the KM A nx analog output stage. Because the system is modular, the capsule can be detached and used with the KM D digital output stage (AES 42) or placed on extension cables (up to 100 meters away) for nearly invisible mounting in concert hall ceilings or on film booms.

Diffuse-Field Equalization for Spatial Depth:

As an omnidirectional pressure transducer, the KM 183 A nx is diffuse-field equalized. In large recording spaces, high frequencies are naturally lost over distance. This microphone features a deliberate +7 dB treble boost at 10 kHz in the free field, which translates to a perfectly flat and natural response when placed in the reverberant (diffuse) field. This makes it indispensable for A-B stereo recording, where it captures the "air" and majesty of the venue.
