This design allows the user to switch between eight different capsule heads or even swap the analog output stage for a KM D digital stage (AES 42). Furthermore, the capsule can be detached and placed up to 100 meters away using specialized extension cables, making it perfect for complex film booms or hidden orchestral miking.

The KK 184 capsule is a pressure gradient transducer with a perfectly uniform cardioid pattern.
