The Ultimate Desktop Front-End
The Camden EC1 is designed for engineers and musicians who demand 500-series performance in a standalone format. It eliminates the need for a rack while providing the same "near-theoretical limits" of noise and distortion performance found in the flagship Camden 500. With its integrated zero-latency headphone mixer, you can blend your live preamp signal with DAW playback, ensuring a perfect monitoring experience for every take.
Award-Winning Camden Topology:
The Camden EC1 is one of the cleanest and most linear preamps ever built. With an EIN of -129.5dBu and frequency response from 1Hz to 1000kHz, it captures every nuance of your performance with clinical accuracy. Its 12-way stepped gain control allows for precise settings, making it easy to match levels for stereo recordings or repeat sessions.
Mojo Analog Saturation Engine:
When you want character, simply engage the Mojo circuit. This 100% analog signal processor features two distinct styles:
Thump: Excites low-end harmonics to add weight and "chest" to vocals or kick drums.
Cream: Introduces valve-style smoothness and tape-style high-frequency saturation.
Unlike traditional transformers, Mojo is completely variable and can be fully bypassed to return to the EC1’s ultra-clean core sound.
Reference Monitoring and C.A.S.T.:
The integrated headphone amplifier delivers a massive 1.2 Watts per ear, capable of driving even the most demanding high-impedance headphones with ease. The EC1 also features C.A.S.T. (Cat 5 Analogue Signal Transport) technology, allowing you to send your audio over affordable Cat 5e/6/7 cables to other Cranborne units like the 500R8 or N22 breakout box.
Discrete Camden Preamp: Award-winning topology with 68.5dB of pristine gain.
Mojo Circuitry: Variable analog saturation with Thump and Cream modes.
Reference Headphone Amp: High-power output with flat frequency response (5Hz to 70kHz).
Zero-Latency Mixer: Front-panel controls to blend Preamp and Aux/DAW levels.
C.A.S.T. Output: Distribute audio via shielded Cat 5 for clean studio cabling.
Advanced Metering: Unique 48V status LED (Amber for charging/discharging, Red for Ready) and signal LED.
Comprehensive I/O: Includes XLR Mic In, Hi-Z/Line 1/4" In, and a dedicated Link Output for re-amping.
